Downloading e-Books on your iPad

You can choose either Aldiko or Adobe Digital Editions as reading software.

  • If you choose Adobe Digital Editions: first, register to get an Adobe ID.
To install the reading app on your iPad:

  1. Go to the App Store on your iPad (you will need an Apple ID).
  2. Search for “Aldiko“ OR “Adobe Digital Editions”
  3. Download the software to your iPad.

Find the e-book you want to download in JYKDOK.

  • Click the “Available Online” link for the e-book.
  • For off-campus use, sign in with your JYU user account.
Click “Full download”.

  • For downloading EBSCOHost e-books, you must create EBSCOhost account, too.
If the e-book does not open automatically, open Aldiko or Adobe Digital Editions and start to read.

    • For off-campus use, sign in with your JYU user account.

Open the uploaded e-book file with Adobe Digital Editions.

If you cannot upload the e-book, some possible reasons may be as follows:

1) Some e-books are only available for a limited number of users at a time.

2) A publisher can sometimes restrict the downloading of e-books.

3) With some e-book services, you can only download a limited number of e-books simultaneously (e.g. 10 items). Return some of the e-books you downloaded before downloading new ones.

4) If you have problems, we are happy to help you. .
