Reminder: Koppa, eportfolio, staff ja payments will be closed down
The learning environment Koppa and a few other services will close at the end of the academic year 2023-2024. The end of extended support for the outdated Python software version in the platform will cause a critical upgrade. Upgrading the services mentioned here is not reasonable for the amount of work required for the renewal, as the uptake is moderate at best and the university already has similar services in place, such as Moodle.
Closure of Koppa
07/2024 - After the end of the 4th period, access to Koppa will be limited to the university network and behind the VPN connection
08/2024 - The service will be terminated and assignment recovery will be switched off. Teachers and students will still be able to view content via VPN.
31.8.2024 - Koppa will be closed completely. Stored data will be backed up for 6 months and can be retrieved on request during this period.
Instructions for students and teachers
As a student, you can use the booth normally during the semester 2023-2024. During the summer, a VPN connection is required for access. Assignments must be returned by 31 July 2024, after which it is not technically possible to return them. Students and teachers will still be able to view materials until the end of August.
Teachers, you can still hold your courses for the 2023-2024 semester in Koppa, but be prepared to teach next semester in another environment, preferably Moodle. If necessary, contact Moodle support via the HelpJYU portal.

- Teaching materials can be uploaded from Koppa to a storage site such as OneDrive.
The public material in Koppa, will be largely unavailable. Some will be republished via the JYU Lightsite.
Payments online payment service will be closed
The Payments online payment service will also close on 1.7.2024. Over the years, payments services have been moved to replacement systems or are now being dropped altogether (e.g. buying print quotas). A backup copy will be kept until the end of the year.
Staff.jyu.fi will be closed
The staff.jyu.fi website, which has been under-used, will be closed down completely. Active users have been contacted and content has been moved elsewhere. A backup copy will be kept until the end of the year.
ePortfolio will be closed
The ePortfolio will also be closed. There is no replacement service, but usage has been relatively low. A backup copy will be kept until the end of the year.
