Course completion

Course completion is based on online lectures, individual assignments connected to the lectures and a lecture diary. Remember to register for the course in Sisu.

Pre-lecture assignments

Due to exceptional situation with the spread of corona virus (more info: https://www.jyu.fi/en/current/coronavirus-instructions), the assignments are not necessary for the completion of this course in spring 2020. 

Assignments are connected to the lectures and have a deadline before the lecture. You can find all the assignments at http://gamesnow.aalto.fi/assignments/. The course includes at least three (3) assignments. 

Assignments have separate deadlines, which are available on the assignment form! In the autumn semester 2019 the deadline is always Sunday 20:00 before the lecture.

Learning diary

Learning diary is based on at least five (5) lectures and at least (3) literature sources.

In the learning diary you will reflect on the content of the lectures in relation to literature, to what you have learned before, as well as your own expectations on the topic. Include only brief summaries of the lecture content, since your own reflection is in a more important role. In the learning diary you can give well-argumented critique or develop further the ideas from the lectures. Focus on the aspects that are most interesting or relevant to your learning goals.

You can structure the learning diary according to lecturers, themes or as a single cohesive work. 

The learning diary should include references to at least 3 academic literature sources. 

The length of the learning diary is 10 to 12 pages. Format your learning diary as follows:

• in the beginning include your name, course code and name, date, and title
• include page numbers
• include a list of references on the last page
• use an easy-to-read font, font size 12 and line height 1.5
• leave a fair margin on both sides of the page, approx. 2.5 cm
• separate paragraphs with an indentation
• use cursive font on book, game, film etc. titles
• You can write your lecture diary in Finnish or in English

Learning diaries can be returned at any time during the semester, but they will be evaluated after the formal return dates. The learning diaries are returned through Koppa. Return dates for the learning diary:
