Coursefolder YFIA205: Basics of Research Methodology in Social Sciences The module is aimed at students who are about to start their BA or MA thesis. It consists of lectures on qualitative and quantitative research methods and related tutorials. Lectures consist of themes such as: different stages of empirical research process, differences between qualitative and quantitative methodology, different methods of data collection and analysis, research ethics and scientific writing. Nov 26, 2013 11:50 AM
Coursefolder YLAS581: Research in Financial Analysis Earnings announcements and asset returns, ERC, post-earningsannouncement drift, corporate governance and firm performance, entrenchment, non-economic factors and stock returns, cross-sectional anomalies in stock returns, functional form and distributional characteristics of financial ratios, classification of financial ratios, valuation models. Oct 29, 2013 02:35 PM
The students will be familiar with the major industrial processes and understand the different technical phases and units of the processes. The process examples are from the basic metal production industry, pulp and paper industry and chemical industry. The environmental, energy and development aspects of these processes will be addressed. Heat and material balances will be calculated for industrial processes. With these balances it is studied how different species and energy streams flow in the systems. A calculation exercise using spreadsheet software is included. Sep 10, 2013 10:21 AM
Coursefolder SMBS117: Syövän biologia Syventävä kurssi, jossa käydään läpi uusinta tutkimustietoa syövän biologiasta. Lähdemateriaaleina alan artikkeleita. Sisältää opiskelijoiden esitelmiä. Aug 22, 2013 10:47 AM
Coursefolder TIEJ659: COM7: Electromagnetic Signals from The Human Brain: Fundamentals and Analysis (JSS23) Non-invasive electromagnetic brain imaging methods, electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG), provide a unique window to human brain function. The key advantage over other imaging methods is that MEG/EEG signals reflect neural signaling directly and with excellent temporal resolution. However, estimating the spatial distribution of brain activation from MEG/EEG data requires advanced signal processing techniques and a solution to the neuromagnetic inverse problem. This course will cover the characteristics of cerebral electromagnetic fields, their measurement, and their analysis, with emphasis on physics and mathematical modeling. The lectures will encompass the generation of neuromagnetic and -electric signals, physics and instrumentation of MEG/EEG, signal processing and mathematical modeling of the acquired neuromagnetic data,  and the latest advances in estimating synchrony and causality between electromagnetic brain signals.
