This course aims to introduce Neoplatonic metaphysics to students of philosophy through an examination of Proclus' Elements of Theology, the most systematic and concise exposition of the subject given by a Neoplatonic philosopher. Through this text, students will be brought to a general understanding of how Neoplatonists conceived the structure of reality and the place of human beings within it. Proclus is one of Neoplatonism's most philosophically influential figures and the Elements one of its most seminal works.
